Indiemaker Dispute & Fraud Policy

Indiemaker Dispute & Fraud Policy

Last updated: 2 October 2025

1. Introduction

At Indiemaker, we’re committed to maintaining a safe, transparent marketplace where users can confidently buy and sell digital assets, side projects, and micro-businesses.

This Policy explains how we handle user disputes and fraud reports. While we facilitate fair processes and use industry-standard tools, please note:

⚠️ Indiemaker is not a broker, agent, or arbitrator. We are a platform facilitator only. Transaction outcomes remain between buyers and sellers, or are decided by escrow/payment providers.

2. Scope

This Policy applies to all Indiemaker users and covers:

  • Dispute Resolution Support

how we help buyers and sellers address transaction concerns.

  • Fraud Reporting

how suspected fraud, IP theft, or fake listings are handled.

  • Prevention Measures

the safeguards in place to minimise marketplace risk.

3. Responsibilities

Indiemaker

  • Facilitate communication between buyers and sellers.
  • Provide tools (escrow, identity verification, fraud detection) to support safe transactions.
  • Review reported disputes and fraud cases on a best-efforts basis.
  • Take appropriate platform actions (warnings, suspensions, bans) where violations are found.

Buyers

  • Attempt to resolve issues directly with the seller before escalating.
  • Provide clear evidence (receipts, screenshots, logs) if filing a dispute or fraud report.
  • Conduct proper due diligence – especially on starter or pre-revenue projects.

Sellers

  • Respond promptly to buyer concerns.
  • Provide evidence of ownership, delivery, and transaction completion when required.
  • Ensure listings comply with Indiemaker’s Terms, Content Guidelines, and verification rules.

4. Dispute Resolution Support

  1. Direct Resolution – Buyers and sellers should first attempt to resolve issues directly using Indiemaker messaging.
  2. Escrow Transactions – If Escrow is used, disputes are resolved according to the escrow provider’s rules. Their decision is final and binding.
  3. Support Involvement – Where disputes fall outside Escrow, Indiemaker may assist communications and request evidence from both parties.
  4. Platform Actions – Indiemaker may suspend or remove accounts, listings, or content if Terms or Guidelines are breached.

⚠️ Note: Indiemaker does not guarantee resolution of disputes and does not decide financial outcomes between users.

5. Fraud Reporting

  1. How to Report – Users can report suspected fraud (fake listings, IP theft, payment fraud, identity abuse) via our Support Form or email [support@indiemaker.com].
  2. Initial Review – We assess reports for completeness and credibility.
  3. Investigation – We may request evidence from all parties and review available transaction/ownership data.
  4. Outcomes – Depending on findings, Indiemaker may:
  5. Suspend or ban accounts.
  6. Remove listings.
  7. Restrict marketplace access.
  8. Refer serious matters to payment providers or law enforcement.

⚠️ Refunds, chargebacks, and financial remedies are handled by escrow or payment providers — not Indiemaker.

6. Fraud Prevention Measures

  • Verified Listings

Sellers must prove ownership (domains, accounts, SaaS, etc.).

  • Escrow Services

Funds are only released when both sides meet obligations. For more info visit Escrow.com

  • Stripe Identity Verification

Buyers and sellers must pass verification before transacting.

  • Fraud Detection Tools

We monitor transaction patterns for anomalies.

  • Karma Score & Ratings

Buyers and sellers rate each other after deals; repeated misconduct reduces trust and visibility.

  • Buyer Due Diligence

Buyers must perform independent checks (traffic, revenues, IP).

7. Confidentiality & NDAs

  • Buyers and sellers are encouraged to use NDAs when sharing sensitive information (e.g., financials, customer lists, source code).
  • Indiemaker may require NDAs for certain higher-value listings.

8. Compliance

  • All disputes and fraud cases must comply with Indiemaker’s Terms of Service, Content Guidelines, and applicable laws.
  • Listings or activity breaching sanctions, export laws, or regulatory restrictions will be removed.

9. Conclusion

Indiemaker is committed to a trusted, community-first marketplace. Our tools – from escrow and verification to fraud monitoring – help minimise risks. But safe transactions depend on shared responsibility:

  • Buyers

    conduct thorough due diligence.

  • Sellers

    be transparent and accurate.

  • Indiemaker

provide fair processes, tools, and enforcement.

⚠️ Reminder: Indiemaker does not guarantee outcomes of disputes, provide financial compensation, or act as a broker.
