AI-powered legal research assistant specialized in French commercial lease law, built as a functional MVP using a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architecture.
The product allows users to ask legal questions in French and receive AI-generated answers based on an indexed legal document database, rather than relying solely on a general-purpose LLM's internal knowledge.
The system combines vector search and PostgreSQL full-text search to retrieve the most relevant legal passages before providing them to the AI model. Responses are designed to remain grounded in the available legal sources and can reference the relevant articles, codes, or case-law contained in the indexed documents.
The project includes user authentication, organization/user management, PDF document ingestion and indexing, legal-document text extraction and chunking, local embedding generation using Hugging Face, PostgreSQL/pgvector for vector search, and integration with the PISTE / Légifrance API.
The project is currently a pre-revenue functional MVP. It is designed to serve as a strong technical foundation for a LegalTech product and can be further developed by adding more legal sources, improving the user interface, expanding the RAG pipeline, implementing monetization, or adapting the system to other areas of law.
